THE VYVE COMMUNITY CODE
We have principles and procedures for impact. These principles are upheld and enforced by our members.
--
VYVE is a network and headquarters for facilitators and creators of community.
Our standards and principles are community-upheld. Our members remind each other to follow these principles. Serious violations are reported by members to Jacques.
VYVE Participation Pledge
As members of VYVE, we are collectively responsible for the health of our community. The more active we are, the more benefits we will reap from our engagement within VYVE. This is a positive feedback loop! For this reason, we pledge to be active creators and participants.
We commit to contributing by:
- Welcoming new members with love ๐
- Spearheading one virtual event per year ๐ง
- Reading the #-critical-info Slack channel weekly ๐
- Responding to our Slack DMs and @mentions weekly ๐ฌ
- Prioritizing attending virtual events over Slack messaging ๐ด
- Guiding the development of VYVEโs processes and vision ๐ฎ
We encourage one another to contribute by:
- Meeting with other members on a bi-weekly basis ๐
- Participating in virtual meetups and habit challenges ๐ป
- Mentoring / educating new revyvers or junior community builders ๐
- Collaborating on projects with other Revyvers ๐ค
- Helping junior revyvers with community tools and processes ๐
- Ensuring community activity follows the VYVE Community Code ๐
VYVE Standards
We cheer and challenge one another regardless of demographics. What brings us together is stronger than whatever tears us apart. Our belief in building a new culture unites us, regardless of our political differences. We do not cancel one another. We seek to understand before seeking to be understood.
This is a space for โ
- Being kind and supportive toward others
- Being respectful of differing viewpoints and experiences
- Asking curious or difficult questions
- Offering constructive feedback when appropriate
- Accepting constructive criticism graciously
- Nominating others to share their perspective
- Encouraging freedom of expression
VYVE Norms
- We save conversations and discussions for face-to-face gatherings when we can. We prioritize attending events over chatting over Slack. Do not feel pressured to be constantly active on Slack.
We are NOT a group of people chatting over Slack. Rather, we are a network of gatherers who connect face-to-face through meaningful experiences.
- We acknowledge when people contribute! Not through emojis, but by leaving a comment in a thread or by sending a direct message!
- We welcome new ReVYVERs with love when they introduce themselves. We may go so far as film a dance tribute for them. Or we post GIFs! Or we call them randomly! Example below!
- We nominate people with relevant perspectives to share them by using @someone! (ex. @Jacques What do you think, here? I know you are a biohacker!)
- We post thoughtfully and slowly. We favour quality over quantity so that we do not flood each other with notifications.
- We move 1:1 conversations to Direct Messages.
- We give more than we take.
In summary: Contributing, sharing, asking, offering, challenging, and inviting others into the conversation is what we do!
Context and Relevancy
Our platform is designed for human connection facilitators passionate about building community. Please donโt make a post with just a link to something, or a thought with no context. We encourage you to focus on starting a conversation that offers value to the people in our community.
Quality over Quantity โ VYVE is a place for quality, thoughtful, well-formulated communication.
Confidentiality
By default, everything is off the record. This is a space for vulnerability, learning, and authentic expression. To preserve the depth of connection in this group, all members must agree to the following:
- Any personal information or stories shared outside of VYVE shall be anonymized.
- If you would like to share something that someone else has shared or posted in VYVE, ask the original poster for explicit permission.
Dispute Resolution
If you believe that someone is violating the Code of Conduct or have any other concerns, please contact me.
I have the right to remove members from VYVE if it threatens the purpose and health of our community. In this process, other senior members will be asked to provide input.
Policy About Nominations
This is an invite-only community. If you believe one of your friends would vibe with our tribe, nominate them by sending them the letter of nomination!
DM me on Slack anytime.
